The easy way to plan the perfect gift.
Give them a head start in life
From first driving lessons and university costs to travelling, training or simply taking their first steps into adulthood, the Helping Hand Savings Plan is designed to help you build a valuable nest egg for a child or grandchild.
By saving regularly over a fixed 10-year term, you can create a tax-free lump sum that could help make some of life's important milestones a little easier to reach.
Tax-free savings for children
Helping Hand is a tax-exempt with-profits savings plan, designed to make use of the Friendly Society tax-exempt savings allowance. If the plan is maintained until maturity, premiums and benefits are currently free from UK income tax and capital gains tax.
That means more of your savings can go towards the child's future and less is lost to tax.
A Helping Hand
Small savings, big possibilities
Helping Hand is available for any child under the age of 16 and offers a simple way to save for their future.
Premiums start from just £3 a month, making it an affordable option for parents, grandparents and other family members who want to put something aside regularly. You can contribute up to £25 a month, or choose quarterly or annual payments if that suits you better.
Regular contributions may seem modest at first, but over time they can build into a meaningful lump sum that belongs to the child when the plan matures.
Security with potential for growth
The Helping Hand Savings Plan provides a guaranteed minimum maturity value, giving you the reassurance of knowing there is a minimum amount that will be paid at the end of the 10-year term, provided the plan is maintained according to its terms.
As a with-profits plan, it may also benefit from bonuses declared by the Society. These are not guaranteed, but can increase the final value of the plan over time.
Added peace of mind
The plan also includes built-in protection benefits. Depending on the child's age and the circumstances involved, benefits may be payable if the child dies during the term of the policy.
Important information
Helping Hand is designed as a long-term commitment and should ideally be held for the full 10-year term. If the plan is surrendered early, you may get back less than you have paid in.
